"This is not a diet I am in control, thank you for starting my healthy journey"
|
We all instinctively know when we are hungry, when we need to eat and when we have had enough. The problem starts when this gets over ridden by our mind. Throughout our lives we learn bad habits, such as needing to eat everything on our plates whether we are still hungry or not, we eat to be polite in social situations, we see food as a comfort, or something we can rely on.
These are all learned behaviours, which control our desires and behaviours around food and eating. Our subconscious controls a large part of our thinking and behaviour. Many of the reasons we over eat or eat badly, as programmed into the subconscious, making dieting and willpower very difficult. When we attempt to restrict our food intake, or cut out the foods we love, our subconscious mind sees this as a threat. Your mind will always act to protect you, and when feelings of deprivation and unhappiness set in, we feel even more like eating!
When we attempt to give up our favourite foods, it feels like a big effort. Our mind does not understand negatives, so by telling yourself not to eat a certain food, you end up wanting it even more. Similar to if I were to tell you not to think of a pink kangaroo!
What if you found a way to reprogram old eating habits so that you actually found yourself not wanting to overeat? You stopped eating when you felt full, because you wanted to? What if you actually began to prefer the healthier option? What if you found a way to still enjoy the foods you love but were happier with smaller portions, and this no longer felt like deprivation?
Hypnotherapy can help you to achieve these goals. We can work together to identify the eating patterns that stop you losing weight, and work out a plan for a new you!
